James Douglas Copeland

James Douglas Copeland, age 88, of Sharon, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on August 13th. Services to honor his life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Sharon, with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sharon. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service at First Baptist Church. Mr. Copeland is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Betty Copeland of Sharon, TN, and his daughter Rhonda Capps (Willie) of Murfreesboro, TN. He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Crystal (Hank) Cole of Nashville, TN; Heather Seay of Murfreesboro, TN; Drake (Kasey) Copeland of Louisville, KY; and Ryan (Taylor) Copeland of Nolensville, TN; as well as five beloved great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernice Copeland, his mother, Mary Laverne Hamlin, and his son, Randal Copeland. Mr. Copeland spent nearly all of his life in Sharon, Tennessee. He graduated from Sharon High School, where he met the love of his life, Betty. They were married in 1956 and built a beautiful life together. He worked for Argo Collier Truck Lines and later served the community through his work at the City of Martin Landfill. A faithful member of First Baptist Church in Sharon, Mr. Copeland was known for his friendly demeanor, always ready to share a smile and a kind word with everyone he met. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Sharon First Baptist Church in his memory.
