Joan G. Moore

Mrs. Joan G. Moore of Friendship, TN born August 19, 1941, resident of Downers Grove, IL passed away October 12, 2023 at the age of 82. Beloved wife of late husband, Avery L. Moore, survived by daughter, Diana Goergen, son, Eric Moore, daughter-in-law, Nicole Moore, son-in-law, Michael Goergen, grandchildren, Michael Goergen Jr., Brandon Moore, and Ashley Moore, sister Melba Humphrey, and many nieces and nephews. 

Joan moved to the Chicagoland area with late husband, Avery where she spent most of her life supporting family and friends through her southern hospitality of feast like home cooked delicious meals from scratch, an open door invitation for family to stay, and an offering trip down memory lane as the monarch of the family's history. 

Joan became an Executive Secretary for a prestigious company for many years and later went on as the Business Manager and Secretary of late husband's business in the Chicago area. 

Joan retired and moved back to Tennessee where she and late husband would reside for many years on their farm in Gleason, TN. Family and friends would gather around their lake or table like old times to share stories and life events. 

She enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, reading, holiday events, birthdays, sharing views of popular daytime t.v. programs, watching game shows, challenging trivia games, crossword puzzles, and music.

Joan moved back to Downers Grove, IL to be near her family in 2020 and continued to enjoy many of the same things such as celebrations, holidays, and a music performance from an Elvis Presley impersonator serenading her on her final birthday.

Joan will be greatly missed by family and friends. 

Funeral services will be held at Williams Funeral Home of Gleason in Gleason, TN on Friday October 20, 2023 at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in Hopewell Cemetery in Gleason. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until time of her funeral service.
