John R. Damesworth

John Richard Damesworth, age 65 of Gleason, TN, passed from this world to his Heavenly
home on February 28, 2023 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born on June 27, 1957 to the late Stanley Maloy Damesworth and the late Bonnie Jane
Damesworth. He was the youngest of their twelve children and was cared for and doted on by
his parents and all of his brothers and sisters.
John loved hunting, fishing, reading, and working on the farm that he called home. He retired
from his job as a supervisor of the sanitation department of the City of Dyersburg and was a
heavy equipment operator prior to that. He was described as “full of life” with a big personality
and loved to make other people smile and laugh. He loved hard and worked hard and will be
greatly missed by those privileged to be a part of his life.
He leaves behind his loving wife and caretaker, his angel, as he called her, Kathy Damesworth
of Gleason, two daughters, Kimberly Fawver of Newbern, TN, and Pamela Bishop of Dyersburg,
TN, two step sons, Phillip Lewis of Dyersburg, TN and Ben Lewis of Arizona, three grandsons,
Frankie Arreola of Wilmington, NC, Aiden Bishop of Dyersburg, TN, and Jake Fawver of
Newbern, TN, three granddaughters, Gabby Mendez of Memphis, TN, Ava Fawver of Newbern,
TN, Mia Bishop of Dyersburg, TN, and Julia Lewis of Gleason, TN, and one
great-granddaughter, Andrea Arreola of Tiptonville, TN. He also leaves behind one brother,
Larry "Dean" Damesworth (Naomi) of Gleason, TN, and four sisters, Edith Newsome (Ray) of Paris, TN,
Linda Tabor (Bob) of Hayti, MO, Judy Hammond (Scotty) of Dyersburg, TN, Debra Lock (Kelly)
of Dyersburg, TN, along with many extended family members and friends that will mourn his
passing and celebrate his memory.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Grady Damesworth,
Phillip (Eston) Damesworth, Pettie Damesworth, and Tony Damesworth, and two sister,
Rebecca Damesworth and Nancy Blevins.
Honoring John as pallbearers are Landon Damesworth, Luke Damesworth, Wayne
Damesworth, Alan Damesworth, Jeremy Damesworth, and Drake Damesworth.
Funeral services will be at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield, TN. On Friday, March 3,
visitation will be 11-2 and the funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., and will be officiated by David
Spikes
