Sandra Skinner Obituary

On this day, we celebrate the life and legacy of Sandra Mae Skinner, affectionately known as “Honey,” who departed this life on April 30, 2025. Sandra was the youngest daughter of the late Mossie Ball Shane and Clarence Shaneof Greenfield, Tennessee. A proud graduate of Weakley County Training School, class of 1963, Sandra continued her education at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where her passion for mathematics first began to flourish before she transitioned into the workforce. From an early age, Sandra’s life was rooted in her faith. Her spiritual journey began at Johnson’s Tabernacle, which remained a pillar of her life. It was there she nurtured a deep relationship with God and lived out her calling as a servant leader. She faithfully served as a Mother of the Church, President of the Trustee Board, and held various roles on the Usher Board and Missionary Board. Her life was a testament to her favorite scripture, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). Through every season, Sandra embodied perseverance, kindness, and an unshakable faith. This year, Sandra and her loving husband, Robert Skinner, celebrated 54 years of marriage—a union marked by unwavering devotion and love. Together they raised three children: Walter (Sherry) Skinner of Lexington, Kentucky; Kashia Skinner of Greenfield, Tennessee; and Cassandra Skinner of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Honey was the heartbeat of her home and the soul of family tradition. She hosted over 25 Christmases at her home, ensuring each holiday was filled with laughter, food, and fierce
competition at the spades table. She leaves to cherish her memory in her grandchildren: Samantha Thomas, Kaitlyn Skinner, Jada Skinner, Lukas Skinner, Jheilaa Thomas, Megan Skinner, Chase Skinner, Leah Skinner, Eli Skinner, Japheth Skinner, Jagger Skinner, and D’Ryant Skinner; and two great-grandchildren: Amelia and Noah Thomas.

Sandra is also survived by her five brothers: Thomas
Shane of Memphis, Tennessee; Leo Shane, Mitchell Shane, Steven
(Dorothy) Shane, and William Shane, all of Greenfield, Tennessee.
Sandra Mae Skinner, our Honey, leaves behind a legacy of faith,
family, and fierce love.
Her presence will forever be felt in the traditions she built,
the lives she shaped, and the hearts she held so dearly.
