Tammie Doyle Obituary

Tammie Capps Doyle left her earthly home on June 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her
family at age 66.
Tammie was born to James (Don) and Virginia Capps on January 26, 1958, in Greenfield,
Tennessee. She was the first child born into her family and was beloved by her grandmother
and aunts. She graduated high school a year early and left home to attend Freed Hardeman
University where she sang in the chorus. She later transferred to the University of Tennessee
Health Science Center in Memphis where she completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing. As
a registered nurse and a forever patriot, she proudly followed in her father’s footsteps and joined
the U.S. Navy. When asked what led her to serve, she would express, usually tearfully, how
much she loved and wanted to serve her country. She later settled with her family in Greenfield
and spent most of her nursing career caring for patients in intensive care. Throughout her life
she made homes in Jackson, Tennessee, and Nashville, Tennessee, and eventually came back
to Greenfield. She has spent the last nine years enjoying her family and friends, loving on her
grandchildren, and serving as a member of Lebanon Church of Christ. She truly lived a life of
servitude and embodied the teachings of Christ. She was full of empathy and would go to the
sick and sorrow-filled to help in any way she could. She fostered many children throughout her
life and made it her mission to minister and love those who had lost their way or had fallen on
hard times. Tammie spent most of her time in retirement cooking and delivering food to the
elderly community, being a political activist, and milling around local thrift stores and Goodwills
collecting treasures for everyone she knew. She had a passion for education, art, music and
traveling.
She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by her daughter Chloe Humphrey (Matthew), son Cade Doyle, grandchildren
Layla Forsythe (Zach), Jed and Lenny Humphrey, great-grandson Phillip Forsythe, mother
Virginia Capps, brother Trent Capps (Michelle), niece Brianna Cooper (Adam) and nephew
River Capps (Ali).

A Celebration of Life for Tammie will be held Saturday July 6th at 1 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield, TN. Visitation will begin Saturday at 12 noon at the funeral home, and go until time of her Celebration of Life.
