Thomas Tansil Sr. Obituary

Thomas Allen Tansil, Sr. was born to Tom and Teawillie Tansil in Greenfield, TN on October 7,
1940. To this union five children were born: Mary Sue Bennett, Betty T. O’Neal, Thomas Tansil,
Sr., Jimmy Tansil and James Lay Tansil.
Thomas Allen Tansil, Sr. was a 1958 graduate of Weakley County Training School. He was a
press operator at Kellwood Manufacturing for 15 years, an Insurance Salesman for 15 years, and
he drove the school bus at Greenfield & greater Weakley County Schools. In addition, Thomas
drove a charter bus for multiple companies: West Tennessee Motorcoach, Brantley Charter &
Anchor Transportation for more than 20 years. He enjoyed driving and serving the traveling
public including various sports teams: Bethel University, UT Martin & Union University.
Thomas also drove for the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx, the Jackson Generals and a host of
churches, clubs and organizations.
Thomas grew up in Greenfield, TN and was baptized at the age of 16. He later married his lovely
wife, Mae (Holliman) Tansil on March 28, 1970. To this union three children were born: Thomas
Tansil, Jr., Bryant Tansil and Tara Tansil-Gentry. Thomas was a key father figure and role model
in raising Nina Poole-Scott, Blake Holliman, Bryce Holliman and a very special niece, Theresa
Warford.
Preceding him in death are his parents Tom and Teawillie Tansil, one daughter Tabbitha
Bridgeman, one sister Mary Sue Bennett, and one brother James Lay.
He leaves behind his wife Mae Tansil; his children: Titus Holliman, Thomas Tansil, Jr. of
Greenfield, Bryant Tansil of Duluth, GA and Tara Tansil-Gentry (Ronald) of Martin, TN; one
Goddaughter Vishenia Huery of Memphis, TN; his siblings: Betty T. O’Neal and Jimmy Tansil
of St. Louis, MO. In addition, his grandchildren: Blake Holliman, Bryce Holliman, William
Gentry, Brittany Belcher, Kyra Banks-Lee (Jarvis), Thomas Tansil III (Trey), Kelvin Lash,
Shanequia Bridgeman, and Valerie Huery. Sister-in-laws: Bessie Taylor (Pete), Lubie Tranzor;
Brother-in-laws: Tony Holliman and Leon Morris. Great grandchildren: Naveah Gaines,
Serenity Gaines, Legacy Love and Ivy Banks-Lee. And a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tansil will have visitation starting Friday August 8th at Williams Funeral Home going from 5pm to 8pm.

It will resume Saturday morning at 10 am at the Old Fulton Rd. Church of Christ in Martin, TN, and go until time of

his service at 11 am. Burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Greenfield.
